The pleasant letter

About a week ago, going through blogspot sites, we found wonderful blog of Judy Felker - C R E A T I V E    W O N D E R. Judy's blog is splashing variety of art pieces: different artists, art styles and themes, we can't describe it better then she did:

"What if we spent our time creating beautiful things, looking at all of the beautiful things created by others, and helping others to find creativity in their lives..."
"...My blog has evolved into an international showcase of contemporary art. It is hard to believe how many talented artists are out there in the world today. I would never have known about them if I hadn't started this blog."

It's beautifully not-commercial:

"... I do tend to select the art work that brings about calm feelings to the viewer and the beauty of the world. It is as if I can feel the artists' spirit in the work that I select. Being impressed and pleasured, we dropped a thank-you-letter to Judy, and in couple of days received the answer. Here it is:

Thank you so very much for you kind and encouraging email. I'm so very glad that you like the blog. So many artists have told me that they are using the blog for inspiration as well as to find other artists who are out there painting in the world today.

I have enjoyed looking at your blogs too. What a lovely artistic couple you are! I have selected a few of your pieces and will try to include them in my blog sometime soon. I will email you when I do. I need to get back to doing my blog on a more regular basis. I think I just did so much during the first year that I needed a break. But I think break time is over.

I think I should to explain what you see here.
Here is the smart city rat that eating an apple, being hung from below on the sewer grill of Borough Market in London.

The Borough Market has a reputation as the country’s most renowned food market. It’s a place where you to come to discover the tastes, aromas, textures and colours that only fresh, seasonal food can offer.

As each market, it carefully washed at the end of working day; waste water runs through the sewer grating down, into the city drainage system. Not surprising, there is an active wild-life in the canalisation. Here is something that I have seen in real life, right in the middle of the busy road going through the market: the apple rolled away from the stand and stopped on the sewer grill. An underground citizen - the rat, had hung itself from the inside and was lunching. Lunch was lasting quite long: the rat freezed like glued to the grill, in this spiderman position, and it didn't mind neither cars that passed tight to the apple, nor people that crossed the street.

Like most of people I am not a big fan of rats, but, man, I felt such a respect to this smart and dexterous creature - bravo! My applauds!

P.S. "7/7" is just a shot from the neighbourhood (not mine area even). There is a bush of roses on the scenic background of mold wall and bearded weeds. Painted as "a compensation" for... read the story below, in yesterday post.

The resume: never delay your dreams.

Here is the srory.

 

This morning I began to paint near the abandoned house.

It's right "under my nose", in the neighborhood - I can see their backyard from the window.  Actually, I keep an eye on this house for years, but somehow felt uncomfortable to disturb the old lady that lived there alone. I heared from the neigbours that she was very suspicious to strangers. Anyway, she left this winter and house staid locked, waiting for demolition. Of course the new 5-floors monster will be build instead (and yes, I hate it!) but that's not the point of the story.

Last month was rainy and backyard garden turned into a rain-forest: juicy, blooming, all rustling with hidden animals. I decided to revenge for 15 years (!) of waiting and to make a plain air marathone, painting there daily during the month or so - depends of weather and status of construction site. See above - yesterday I has begun to paint the garden. It's difficult task - garden was overloaded with intertwining, climbing and wet rotting greenery. In 4 hours I complete about half of painting - then day light passed and I returned home. I was full of good spirits about this painting marathone and prepared to run few pictures parallely, switching between them in changing light conditions.

Got up early today and quickly got ready to go.
And then ...
... walls of my apartment begun to vibrate, like it was an earthquake.
Used to life in seismic zone, I really hoped it's just an earthquake and it took additional couple of minutes when I thoughtfully eyed the dining table's legs disperse to the sides. Then my hearing switched on and "... what the hell is this terrible noise?" - I said. I still didn't picture it. With "what the hell" I opened the window and received a hit of dense gray dust directly to my face.

Oh no-o-o-o-o-o-o-o!!!



They crashed "my painting camp" to pieces, into dust, they broke my plans and made the picture forever parentless. Gosh.. the long-term dream was ruined.

Please, don't tell: "I wish it will be my worst trouble", cause I was really upset to tears.
Now I calmed down a little, but I still don't know what to do with this half-made picture. Painting is good and pity to let it down or destroy. It's too complex and not possible to complete it with no natural enviroment.

Couple of days ago our son got a mood and created an album of our paintings on FB. Practically he did it between two spoons of soup with no spending on it too much time and energy. He said "You don't get a potential of FB" (that's true, we don't get it). We were astonished with immediate wave of reaction. Storm of "likes" almost smashed us, people wrote comments - even the laziest of friends who always were messing with commenting on the BlogSpot and found it complicated, suddenly "awoke" and responded. Wow, it was quite impressive experience and we think to update some more pictures also there. It never will be full description on FB, it purposed to be a fast access to new pieces. Our "home" site is still HERE, as format of blog feels to us more comfortable and more private. No worries: these two blogs ("V&A STUDIO" and "STILL LIFE ART BY STASHINSKI") will stay alive until we continue to paint.

Porrau is a village in Niederösterreich, Austria. Once it was the village of wine-makers, but it changed. However the old wine cellars are still there and still in use as a storage or barn.

The exhibition

We were thinking about the new exhibition lately. For this time it not will be a still-life, but kind of Magic Realism. I mention "kind of" because it's not really it, but Magic Realism is the nearest genre that alike. So it could explain something anyway. Exhibition, if it will happen, will be exposed in February 2012. We will show around 20 paintings, most of them of a big format, painted with oil colors on canvas.


Last Friday we brought all paintings together and tried to compose the groups and "neighborhoods" of the future show. Surprisely it was not easy to manage - being painted in other years, pictures "didn't fit" each other, they "asked" for better conditions: more space and another light. Feeling a bit confused, we left couple of paintings on the walls - just let them get "settled" in our eyes, and we took out other paintings. In few days we got used to see them sharing the wall, and it gives the hope that it can be exposed. The answer is still more negative then positive, but we delay taking decision for a while. It would be great to receive a proposal to show few pictures of this serial, even in group show.
